HMSI takes challenge to make Indian roads safer

HMSI launches “Honda Riding Trainer” in India

  • HMSI introduces Safety Riding as must at its dealerships
  • Plans to add-up more Riding Trainers in future

Cochin , Saturday, 18thth August 2007: Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) today launched Honda Riding Trainer in Cochin, Mr. Divakaran, Asst. Commissioner (Traffic), Cochin East inaugurated Honda Riding Trainer at Muthoot Honda, HMSI dealer in Cochin.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Harpreet Singh, In charge Safety Riding, HMSI said “Honda is committed to develop “Safe Riding Environment” by educating two wheeler riders through Safety Riding activities as part of it’s ‘4S’ dealership concept”.

In India with growing economy, motorization has made a lot of progress. Due to expansion of cities and people having to travel longer distances, using personalized vehicles has become essential. However, traffic situation on road has become dangerous. People using roads are not conscious of their and other people’s safety.

Honda with “Respect for human life” as the basic concept understands this and has positioned Safety as one of its most important themes. As Safety concern is very low amongst the Indian riders & accident rate is high, Honda has taken up this as a Challenge and is committed to improve driving standards of two wheeler riders in India as a social obligation towards society. Besides providing safe and comfortable products, Honda believes that raising the awareness of each customer on safety aspect will act as a major initiative for prevention of traffic accidents on roads.

To promote safety amongst customers, Honda has 4S concept at all our outlets. These stand for Sales, Service, Spares and Safety. This 4th ‘S’ that is Safety, is promoted through PDSA (Pre Delivery Safety Advice) given by Honda dealer to its customers.

Carrying the same theme forward, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) is introducing Honda Riding Trainer.

In first phase HMSI is introducing Riding Trainers at 42 of their dealers across India. All these dealers will have specially trained Safety Advisors by Honda to educate customers on Safe Riding. This Riding Trainer as a tool will make a strong contribution to raising safety awareness. The Trainer can reproduce various traffic situations that occur on roads, offering the user a safe way to experience hazardous situations. Further, users can repeatedly play back and view from various angles the dangers concealed in road traffic and the processes leading to accidents and hazardous situations, confirming them with their own eyes. The Trainer therefore allows users to deepen their understanding of safety and functions as an effective training tool for hazard prediction for all riders from beginners to advance. It also gives beginners a chance to practice clutch and throttle coordination, gear changing, brake operations etc. before riding an actual motorcycle.

It can be utilized to give training & advice to all categories of 2W riders ranging from novice, semiskilled to veteran riders.

It is possible to select Day, Night & Fog mode; as well as different engine capacities so that varied situations can be experienced by customers in safe environment.

HMSI plans to Promote Safe Riding aggressively in India through its dealers, tying up with Schools / colleges and Traffic Police at local level, and will contribute to the realization of a safe and comfortable transportation society.
